Why Rattleys?

The first title for the property was issued to Johnathon Rattley in 1865 to establish a house, a garden and a shop (saddlery and boot makers). All that remains today are the foundations of a building and an ornamental pear tree from the garden, hence the name of the business.
Johnathon and his family sold the property in 1876 and moved to Yorke Peninsula where his descendants live today.
